Zappos to feed millions this Thanksgiving weekend
Zappos.com says it will celebrate Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend by donating 10 meals per order placed on Zappos.com in partnership with Feeding America, the leading domestic hunger-relief charity.
The company says the objective of its Fast, Free Giving effort is to give back this holiday season and for consumers to put their dollars behind more than just holiday gifts: to help those most in need, too.
“This year, Zappos decided that rather than play into the noisy holiday retail game, we wanted to give back to local communities across the country,” said Steven Bautista, head of karma at Zappos.com.
When consumers make a purchase on Zappos.com from 12:01 a.m. PST on Black Friday through 11:59 p.m. PST on Cyber Monday, 10 meals will be donated to Feeding America, the nationwide network of food banks. Zappos has pledged to donate up to 5,000,000 meals, or a $500,000 commitment.
Zappos’ committed donation of up to 5,000,000 meals will help support Feeding America’s network of 200 food banks and 60,000 local charities in the United States and Puerto Rico.
“Feeding America food banks serve children and families in all 50 states, and we wanted to help their efforts in alleviating hunger this holiday season,” Bautista said.
Established in 1999, Zappos.com sells millions of products from over 1,000 clothing and shoe brands.
