World Retail Congress postponed

London Due to ongoing travel disruptions from the volcanic ash cloud, the World Retail Congress, a three-day conference for retailers, has been postponed until October.

"With much of European airspace closed, so many speakers and delegates faced huge difficulties reaching Berlin in time for the scheduled event, we have taken the decision to postpone the 2010 World Retail Congress," event organizers said in an e-mail.

The conference, sponsored by U.K. media company Emap, was initially planned for April 21 through April 23 in Berlin, with speakers from retailers around the world.

The event will be rescheduled for October in Berlin, the company said.
