Wolverine Worldwide selects Demandware to consolidate commerce platforms

4/8/2014

Wolverine Worldwide, a leading marketer of branded footwear, apparel and accessories, is leveraging Demandware as the digital commerce backbone of its global retail direct-to-consumer operations.

The company is consolidating its digital commerce operations for its brand portfolio across all geographies onto the Demandware Commerce platform. The first brand to launch on Demandware is Sperry Top-Sider, which went live with eight international Web and mobile commerce sites in January.

Wolverine Worldwide’s portfolio of brands includes Sperry Top-Sider, Merrell, Hush Puppies, Saucony, Wolverine, Keds, Stride Rite, Sebago, Cushe, Chaco and Bates. The company is also the global footwear licensee of Cat, Harley-Davidson and Patagonia brands. Its products are sold in approximately 200 countries and territories around the world.

The company felt that operating multiple disparate platforms would become too costly and cumbersome to support its evolving requirements and growth. With Demandware, Wolverine Worldwide will have a central commerce platform that enables fast time to market and shared functionality to support hundreds of sites, across channels, devices and geographies.

“We realized that there was an opportunity to achieve better operational efficiencies across our brand portfolio, but it was critical that we not lose brand-level control,” said Jodi Watson, president, consumer direct, Wolverine Worldwide. “With Demandware, we do not have to compromise. We have a scalable, enterprise-class platform that allows our team to centrally manage our commerce operations, while enabling customized experiences at both the brand and regional level. And with Demandware’s cloud model, we know that we’ll always have best-in-class performance, uptime and the latest functionality available to us.”

“As retail becomes increasingly consumer-driven, large enterprises are assessing their existing commerce operations to determine if they have the flexibility and scalability needed to meet ever-evolving consumer demands and drive global growth,” said Jeffrey Barnett, COO, Demandware. “They’re finding that legacy on-premise systems are too rigid and are a barrier to innovation and rapid expansion. Demandware is a perfect match for Wolverine Worldwide. Our platform provides the functionality, scalability and performance necessary to manage a large, multi-brand global retail operation, with the agility and operational efficiency of our cloud infrastructure.”
