Winn-Dixie loss widens in Q1
Jacksonville, Fla. Winn-Dixie Stores reported late Monday that its first quarter loss widened to $76.8 million for the quarter ended Sept. 22, compared with a loss of $8.1 million in the year-ago period.
The grocer, which operates 485 stores in five southern states, cited falling sales and one-time expenses associated with taxes and 30 store closings for the widened loss.
Revenue decreased 2% to $1.5 billion. Same-store sales dropped 2.8%.
