Winn-Dixie expands kosher offerings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Winn-Dixie announced today that the Orthodox Union recently certified its two dairy plants, one in Plant City, Fla., and the other in Hammond, La., bringing the grocer's total number of private label kosher products to just over 1,000.

"Winn-Dixie is dedicated to bringing our customers the kind of service and products they desire in every area we serve. Our kosher initiative is an important part of that commitment," said Deborah Shapiro, specialty foods category manager at Winn-Dixie. "We believe our customers will be pleased with the expanded affordable kosher selection now available to them."

In addition to Winn-Dixie brand milk, its private label orange juices, teas, and all flavors of Chek soda will now display the kosher symbol on their labels. In addition, Thrifty Maid beverages, Premium fruit drinks and Prestige ice cream flavors are kosher certified as well.
