Whitehall Jewelers taps third party to sell property assets

6/3/2009

Chicago Whitehall Jewelers Holdings said Wednesday that it retained Streambank, an asset-consulting firm, to manage the marketing and sales efforts of its liquidation.

The jeweler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June 2008, but following unsuccessful attempts to sell the chain or gain financing, a court ordered the company be liquidated.

Needham, Mass.-based Streambank will work with the retailer during the sale of its assets, which is currently under way across more than 370 stores in 39 states. Streambank has assisted in the liquidation of KB Toys, Circuit City, Goody’s Family Clothing, Mervyns and Tower Records.
