When the levee breaks

10/5/2009

In response to flooding in Northwest Georgia Target has donated $100,000 in cash and product to local relief agencies including the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross. One of the biggest beneficiaries of aid was the Clarksdale Elementary School in Austell, Ga., which was nearly submerged when the Sweetwater Creek overflowed. Target gave $10,000 in gift cards to teachers and students at the school and also provided thousands of food and toiletry relief kits to relief agencies and emergency responders.

“We extend our thoughts of comfort and hope to all who have been impacted by these floods, including the students of Clarkdale Elementary School,” said Laysha Ward, president, Community Relations, Target. “We appreciate the tremendous work being done by relief agencies in this area.”
