Wet Seal’s John Kubo takes Oracle’s CIO of the Year Award

New York City Jon Kubo, CIO of The Wet Seal, was honored as CIO of the Year at the 2010 Oracle Retail Excellence Awards. The awards were announced on Tuesday at the annual Oracle Retail CrossTalk event, held June 22-24, at Eagelwood Resort & Spa, just outside of Chicago.

Under Kubo’s leadership, The Wet Seal has won industry recognition for its e-commerce and social media initiatives. The chain’s “Fashion Community” is widely considered one of the most successful examples of social media in retail.

Other Oracle award recipients included Nordstrom, in the category of “Redesigning Customer Experience: Capitalizing on Retail,” and The Container Store, in the category of “Reinvigorating Operational Excellence: Enabling New Ways of Working.”

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board took the award for “Reimagining Growth: Building Foundations for Expansion.”

The annual awards are designed to recognize Oracle customers’ outstanding achievements in maximizing business value through innovative best practices, efficient operations, and achieving above-average results through the intelligent use of technology.
