Wet seal launches in-store music program
FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. Specialty apparel retailer Wet Seal has launched an in-store music program focusing on driving licensed merchandise within the music category. The launch begins with "Folie a Deux," the new album by Island Def Jam artist Fall Out Boy. The program includes a bundle package where customers can get the new release and an exclusive tee by Pete Wentz under his Clandestine label.
In addition to the retail elements, the program includes an exclusive contest where one lucky winner will be featured in the next Fall Out Boy music video. Customers need to film a :30 to :60 video for the first release off of Folie a Deux, "I don't care", and submit it via the Wet Seal Web site, wetseal.com.
"We are fortunate to have new, creative partners like Wet Seal to develop programs such as these. It helps to build momentum around CD releases and thus drive incremental sales in non-traditional retailers," said Jeff Straughn, senior vp of strategic marketing for the Island Def Jam group.
