Wendy’s selects NCR as POS supplier

12/8/2009

Duluth, Ga. Wendy’s/Arby’s Group has selected NCR Corp. to supply its point-of-sale technology for the Wendy’s restaurant system franchisees.

The agreement with NCR gives franchise operators the opportunity to order and deploy the NCR RealPOS 70XRT’s integrated touch POS workstation that combines business-optimized technologies, retail design and industry-leading serviceability.

“Out-of-box quality, performance and serviceability are key criteria for the equipment and technology used in restaurant operations,” said Wendy’s/Arby’s CIO Don Zimmerman. “NCR solutions bring these attributes to the table, reflecting the company’s emphasis on technology excellence and continuous improvement.”

The NCR RealPOS 70XRT reduces energy costs up to 50% over previous-generation systems, due to energy-efficient Intel processors and a high-efficiency power supply, according to NCR. The workstation includes a touchscreen interface and an integrated biometric fingerprint reader is available for secure and fast cashier login, manager overrides and other POS applications.

More than 6,600 Wendy’s restaurants are in operation in the United States and in 21 other countries and territories.
