Wegmans Expanding in Washington, D.C. Area

Rochester, N.Y. Wegmans is stepping up its expansion in the Washington, D.C. area with plans to open a 140,000-sq.-ft. store in Springfield, Md. It is also eyeing Germantown, Md., for the locale of its first store in the state’s Montgomery County.

Wegmans signed the deal on the Springfield store in December. The grocer signed a letter of intent to open a Germantown store in a new mixed-use center in Seneca Meadows Corporate Center, according to Jo Natale, Wegmans’ spokeswoman.
