Weekly same-store sales rise 1%
New York City A report released Tuesday by the International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs said that comp-store sales at U.S. retail chains rose 0.9% this past week.
Improved weather conditions in many places helped to improve sales 2.3% from the previous week.
“Sales posted a solid post-storm catch-up after last week’s severe blizzard in the East and a snowstorm in the South,” said Michael Niemira, ICSC director of research and chief economist. “Sales volatility has been amplified by the impact of snowfall on sales these past two weeks.”
Niemira added that, for February, ICSC Research continues to anticipate that sales will be up about 2%.
