Warner says high-def sales of ''300'' top 250K
BURBANK, Calif. In a major step forward for the high-definition DVD business, Warner Home Video reported that the box office hit ''300'' sold more than 250,000 copies during its first week of release on HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Warner did not break down sales by format but noted the benefits of releasing titles on both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.
“'300' is an amazing film and the high-definition sales we are seeing underscores the positive benefits of supporting both HD-DVD and Blu-ray,” said Warner Home Video president Ron Sanders. The July 31 release sets a new standard for other titles to shoot for. Earlier this year, ''Casino Royale'' became the first title to break 100,000 in sales during its first week.
