PriceSmart is ready to break ground on its newest locations.
The warehouse club retailer has acquired approximately 242,000 sq. ft. of land in Santa Ana, Costa Rica — the home of its newest warehouse club set to open in the fall. This will be the chain’s seventh club operating in Costa Rica.
Last week, PriceSmart acquired a new 325,000-sq.-ft. distribution center located in Medley, Fla., that it plans to occupy by March 2017. This new location will serve as a central hub to prepare all dry merchandise for export from the South Florida ports, as well as house the company’s local administrative office.
The new facility will be located approximately one mile from the chain’s existing warehouse, where it will retain approximately 102,000 sq. ft. to continue operating a recently expanded refrigerated and frozen distribution facility. PriceSmart plans to sublease approximately 260,000 sq. ft. at this existing facility, according to PriceSmart.
Overall, the expansion and configuration of PriceSmart's new facility enables the club chain to more effectively serve its growing customer base in Central America, the Caribbean, and Colombia, PriceSmart said.
PriceSmart operates 39 warehouse clubs in 12 countries and one U.S. territory.
