Walmart Foundation pledges $250K toward Tennessee relief
BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart announced that the Walmart Foundation is committing $250,000 in cash and in-kind donations to The American Red Cross and Salvation Army to support emergency relief efforts in Tennessee.
"We've been in touch with emergency responders and are making sure essential items like food and water are available to those in distress," said Margaret McKenna, president of the Walmart Foundation. "Our company has a longstanding commitment to help in times of disaster. Residents of Nashville are facing difficult times and we're here to help."
Walmart announced it is working also in Mississippi to help the victims of tornadoes that struck the region last week. The company is pledging an additional $75,000 to residents impacted there.
