Walmart computes BTS deals

7/23/2009

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Walmart announced that for the first time ever it will offer a 3 GB memory laptop for under $300.

Starting July 26, Walmart will offer the Compaq Presario notebook for $298. The laptop comes with a 160 GB hard drive, CD and DVD drive, and Windows Vista pre-loaded. This price event begins 8 a.m. July 26 in all stores and on Walmart.com while supplies last.

In addition to announcing its $298 laptop, Walmart is promoting  its selection of netbooks and laptops to students looking for high performance at a low price. On July 26, the retailer said it will lower the price of its Acer 8-hour battery laptop to $548, a $50 savings. Walmart also introduced a new assortment of the Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop at $398 in black, blue, pink, red, purple and aqua.

Every college student needs a computer these days, and with most moving into dorm rooms or apartments within the next two months, Walmart is wise to get the word out about its laptop and netbook offerings.
