Walgreens is opening a massive new store, the drug chain's 15th flagship, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The new store is 35,000-plus feet and is Walgreens' 12th store on Oahu and 18th in Hawaii.
The store also boasts culturally inspired design reflective of elements of traditional Hawaiian architecture, as well as components of the natural landscape.
“We are very excited to open a Walgreens flagship store in the beautiful city of Honolulu,” stated Roberto Valencia, Walgreens Corporate Operations VP. “The store will serve as one of America’s most loved pharmacy-led health, wellbeing and beauty destinations.”
The store follows Walgreens Well Experience format in which every aspect of the store focuses on the idea of “well.” The first floor of the store features an Upmarket Café, including a made-to-order juice, smoothie and milkshake bar; made-fresh daily hand-rolled sushi, poke and sashimi; produce and high-quality, on-the-go meal options such as wraps, sandwiches and salads; premium coffee beverages and baked goods.
Customers also can enjoy self-serve frozen yogurt. A robust selection of beer, wine and spirits will also be available on the first floor and a wide selection of souvenirs, apparel and local offerings will be displayed throughout the store and represent LEGO, Mauna Loa, Hello Kitty Sunglass Hut and Dole. On the second floor and key to the store is the pharmacy, where the pharmacist is made accessible to provide more counseling and services to patients, fostering pharmacist-patient relationships.
The pharmacy features an Express Rx pickup kiosk to allow customers to quickly pick up and pay for their refill prescriptions and a private health room for counseling and services including immunizations and health tests. This level also features a LOOK Boutique beauty department, which offers an expanded selection of skincare, hair care and cosmetics including products from Boots No7.
Also, as part of the company’s mission to champion everyone’s right to be happy and healthy, Walgreens will make a $5,000 donation to the Hawaiian chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
