Walgreens, Pharmacists Union Deadlocked

7/21/2005

Hinsdale, Ill., Walgreens met with the National Pharmacists Association for more than two hours yesterday to discuss the two-week pharmacists’ strike. The talks did not produce a resolution, and the strike shows no sign of ending.

The strike began July 6 with the union charging that staffing levels are unsafe. To deal with the strike, Walgreens cut back pharmacy hours at many locations, although 64 stores are now operating normally. Walgreens is currently using managers, technicians, pharmacists crossing the picket line and pharmacists from other areas to run its pharmacies.
