Walgreens Expands Senior Care

11/5/2007

Deerfield, Ill., Walgreens has bought two senior living pharmacies, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. The company bought a pharmacy in Largo, Fla., from TabSafe Prescription Services LLC, and another in Roswell, Ga.

TabSafe Prescription Services is the pharmacy services division of TabSafe Medical Services Inc., a privately held company that manufactures and markets personal-medication management systems for seniors. TabSafe Medical Services will retain its ownership and rights to manufacture and market the TabSafe medication-management machine.

The acquisition expands Walgreen’s existing service capacity to senior-living communities in the Tampa market, while opening the Atlanta senior living market to the company for the first time.
