Walgreens appoints Amex executive as accounting head

Deerfield, Ill. - Walgreens Boots Alliance has named Kimberly R. Scardino as its new senior VP, global controller and chief accounting officer. Scardino joins Walgreens Boots Alliance from American Express Co., where she was senior VP, business advisory controller.



Prior to her current role, she was senior VP and Americas controller from June 2012 to March 2015. Previously, she served in roles of increasing responsibility since 2006, including VP, global head of Sarbanes Oxley Compliance and VP and chief accounting officer of American Express Credit Corp. Scardino also served in accounting functions at Credit Suisse Group from 2004 to 2006, and at Lyondell Chemical Company from 2002 to 2004. She started her career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where she was an auditor from 1994 to 2002.



Scardino reports to George Fairweather, executive VP and global CFO.
