Washington, D.C. Walgreen Co. spent $480,000 in the first quarter as it lobbied Congress on legislation related to national health care, drug imports and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
The company also lobbied on health information technology, the military health plan Tricare and Medicare reimbursement for generic drugs in the January-March period.
In addition, Walgreen lobbied on bills limiting and testing for the lead content of drugs and medical devices, as well as on legislation that would require online merchants to track sellers who may be dealing in stolen merchandise and share that information with law enforcement, according to the form filed April 20 with the House Clerk's Office.
