Walgreen to send text message prescription alerts

Deerfield, Ill. Walgreen Co. said Tuesday that it will begin using text messaging to alert customers that their prescriptions are ready.

Walgreen said it will also offer details on coupons and other deals to customers who sign up at its website, and it is relaunching the iPhone app and mobile site that originally debuted in fall 2009.
