Walgreen Sales Jump 14%
Chicago Walgreen Co. said Tuesday that its February sales jumped 14.5% to $4.92 billion, compared to $4.30 billion in February 2007.
Meanwhile, the company’s same-store sales rose 8.3%, and front-end sales increased 8.2%.
The drug chain said it benefited from one extra day because of leap year, and strong Valentine’s Day sales.
Excluding the extra day, the company reported that its same-store sales rose 4.2%. Similarly, front-end same-store sales were up 4.6%, excluding the extra day.
