Walgreen Pharmacists Strike
Chicago, Some 1,200 pharmacists at about 400 Walgreen Co. stores in the greater Chicago area went on strike Wednesday night, the Associated Press reported. The union complained that low staffing levels and increased workloads for its members could cause mistakes that harm patients. The retailer maintains that its pharmacies are safe, and said the union is playing the safety card to boost its power at the bargaining table, the AP reported. The strike began at 10 p.m. July 6, affecting stores in Illinois and northwest Indiana.
