Walgreen Co. Plans Connecticut DC

Deerfield, Ill., Walgreen Co. said it will build a new distribution center on a 130-acre site in Windsor, Conn. Groundbreaking will occur in late spring. The facility is scheduled to open in 2008.

In a hiring twist, the drugstore retailer says that it aims to hire one-third of the DC’s work force from the ranks of disabled workers. Walgreens has a similar goal for a DC set to open in Anderson, S.C., next year.
