Walgreen Buys 12 Drug Stores From Rite Aid
Deerfield, Ill. Walgreen Co. said Thursday it has agreed to purchase 12 drug stores from Rite Aid Corp., with seven locations in San Francisco and five in eastern Idaho.
Walgreens said the transaction would increase its presence in both markets, although some Walgreens and Rite Aid stores will be combined.
Walgreens operates 59 stores in San Francisco and 28 throughout Idaho.
The companies said the store transitions and any pharmacy patient file transfers will be completed by the end of March.
