Wal-Mart reports monthly sales of $31.7B
BENTONVILLE, Ark. Wal-Mart today reported that net sales for November were $31.7 billion compared with net sales of $29.3 billion, an increase of 8.4%. Comparable-store sales for the period (excluding fuel) were up 1.5% compared with a 0.5% decrease last year.
The company reported that grocery and pharmacy were strong drivers of comparable-store sales at its Wal-Mart Stores for the month.
Sam’s Club saw favorable performances in electronics, video games, produce and consumables, the company reported.
The company expects the comparable-store sales of its U.S. operations for the December five-week reporting period to be between 1% and 3%, said Tom Schoewe, evp and cfo.
