Wal-Mart pops up in NYC for AC/DC
NEW YORK To celebrate the launch of AC/DC's new album, "Black Ice" Wal-Mart will open a temporary store at the Times Square MTV Store on Oct. 18. Fans can also visit the Black Ice truck this week to listen to the album, which is being sold exclusively at Walmart stores, in advance of its release on Oct. 20.
In addition to being the exclusive retailer of the Black Ice album, Wal-Mart will also be the sole retailer of the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack video game.
This isn't the first time Wal-Mart has "popped up" in Manhattan. Around the same time in 2006, the retailer partnered with MTV to open a sustainability-focused store at MTV's Times Square store. The temporary "Everyday Green" store was created to raise consumer awareness on environmental issues.
