Wal-Mart expands presence in Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON Wal-Mart Canada announced today that it has expanded its presence in Canada by opening its first Supercenters outside of Ontario. The company reported that it has expanded operations in Wainwright, Vegreville, Lethbridge, Pincher Creek and Edmonton.
The company also announced that it has opened four additional supercenters in Ontario, bringing the total number of supercenters in Canada to 17.
Wal-Mart Canada said it will continue the expansion of its new supercenter format, with a total of 28 Supercenters planned across Canada by early 2008. Each new Supercenter represents an investment of more than $20 million, 200 trade and construction jobs, and as many as 500 jobs for in-store associates.
