Wal-Mart discrimination case plaintiffs seek to block review

Washington, D.C. According to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, female plaintiffs in the sex discrimination case against Wal-Mart Stores have filed a briefing opposing the retailer’s request to the U.S. Supreme Court that it review a lower court’s class action decision.

The information came from a statement by law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC.

In April, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled in favor of class-action status for the case, which alleges gender discrimination over pay for female workers. In August, Wal-Mart Stores asked the Supreme Court to throw out the class-action lawsuit, which was first filed by six women in federal court in 2001.
