Wal-Mart Defends Against Labor Lawsuit
Bentonville, Ark., In its first response to the lawsuit that accuses Wal-Mart of allowing sweatshop conditions at overseas factories, the retailer said that the labor-rights plaintiff has “a history of presenting opinions as facts.”
The International Labor Rights Fund filed the class-action lawsuit in Los Angeles on behalf of workers in China, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Swaziland and Indonesia.
According to Wal-Mart, the Fund was found by the Federal Department of Labor to have “serious flaws” in one of its reports on labor conditions in Central America.
