Vitamin Shoppe reports soaring profit in Q2
North Bergen, N.J. Vitamin Shoppe reported Thursday that its net income for the quarter ended June 26 surged 74% to $7.3 million, from $4.2 million a year ago.
Net income for the quarter benefited from lower interest expense versus the same period in 2009, and also includes a pretax loss on extinguishment of debt and fees related to the secondary offering, totaling $1.1 million.
Same-store sales grew 8.6% for the quarter, and net sales increased 12.3%, to $192.2 million from $171.1 million in the year-ago period.
The retailer operates 463 stores in the United States.
