Virtual Piggy steps up its mobile design game
LOS ANGELES — Virtual Piggy has appointed Ivo Weevers as the company’s creative director of mobile design. Weevers will be charged with leading and managing the mobile consumer experience team.
Weevers has 15 years of experience in creating mobile, web, device and desktop products across multiple platforms. He has directed design work and lead international design teams in the telecom, device, social media, banking, travel, entertainment, medical automotive industries.
Recently, Ivo headed up the design team for the Ubuntu operating system, where he directed the design of the full portfolio, including phones, tablets, desktops, apps, cloud services and the brand. Before that, he led mobile design for RBS — one of the major U.K. international banks.
"When I was a teenager, I saved money to buy my first CD and my parents allowed me to learn my first steps in managing money. With kids and teens moving into the digital world at a rapid pace, looking after their digital payments is becoming an essential need for both themselves and their parents,” said Weevers. “I believe Virtual Piggy enables this to happen in a safe and responsible way and I'm thrilled to join their excellent team."
"No one uses the mobile internet more than a teenager," said CEO and founder, Dr. Jo Webber. "At Virtual Piggy, our goal is to be the global smartphone wallet for youth. At the heart of this unique strategy is an engaging and secure mobile technology. I am very excited to have Ivo and his creative vision for mobile on board to help us over-deliver on this strategy."
