Virgin Megastores revamps site for holidays

11/14/2007

LOS ANGELES Virgin Megastores announced today that it is launching a new retail shopping site to prepare for the changing way consumers shop for the holidays.

The Virgin Megastore retail site has been powered by Amazon for the past several years. The new site (www.virginmega.com), however, will be run by Baker & Taylor, who will also operate fulfillment for the site. According to Virgin Megastores, the VirginMega.com will look and feel as if it were designed in house.

The team is concentrating on developing a site that offers a deep catalog of products and services to compliment their in-store offers at the Megastores.  One major feature of the site is the MegaBoutiques page, where products are grouped by theme. The site also offers blogs, streaming video, news feeds and event calendars which post upcoming in-store artist performances and signings. The site will also link up to Virgin’s new Social Media Mashup site, www.virginmegamashup.com.

“Anyone working in retail knows how important the holidays are to their business.  We’ve spent the last several months developing a site that is unique, easy to navigate, and is really loved by our customers,” states, Dee Mc Laughlin, vp of marketing for Virgin Entertainment Group, North America.
