Veteran retailers join Petco executive ranks
Petco has filled two key executive roles as it continues to build a team to successfully execute key strategic initiatives.
The company has named Michael M. Nuzzo as EVP and chief financial officer and Michael W. Zuna as SVP and chief marketing and digital officer.
"We are pleased to have two such accomplished leaders join the Petco team," said Petco CEO Jim Myers. "As CFO, Mike Nuzzo brings a successful track record of leadership for both public and privately-held companies and will play a key role in helping us further refine and execute our long-term growth strategy. As Chief Marketing & Digital Officer, Michael Zuna's wealth of innovative marketing experience will enable Petco to communicate our passion for pets and deliver the increasingly digital experience our customers expect while continuing to differentiate us from the competition."
As CFO, Nuzzo will be responsible for leading the company's overall financial strategy and execution, with accountability for finance, information technology, legal, investor relations, supply chain, and business development functions. Before joining Petco, Nuzzo served as Chief Administrative Officer at 4moms, a leading high-tech baby gear brand.
Previously, he served as CFO and Executive Vice President at GNC Holdings, Inc. and as Senior Vice President, Finance, and in various other leadership roles at Abercrombie & Fitch, Inc. Nuzzo has an MBA degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago and earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Kenyon College.
"I'm truly excited to be joining Petco, a company that has a well-earned track record of performance, and a strong reputation as a trusted brand, as well as a bright future in the dynamic pet specialty category," said Nuzzo.
As Chief Marketing & Digital Officer, Zuna will be responsible for leading the company's effort to engage with pet parents and nurture powerful relationships for better lives together. He will have accountability for all marketing, advertising, public relations, digital and e-commerce activities for Petco.
Previously, Zuna served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Aflac U.S., a Fortune 150 company and the nation's largest provider of supplemental insurance. Before joining Aflac in 2009, Zuna was managing director at Saatchi & Saatchi New York. He also held leadership roles at Arnold Worldwide and Ogilvy & Mather. Zuna earned a bachelor's of science degree in Economics from the United States Naval Academy. In 2014, Zuna was ranked 31st in a study by Forbes of the world's most influential CMOs.
"Pets are such an amazing and rewarding part of people's lives, and I'm very humbled and excited to be joining Petco, a company that is uniquely positioned to help consumers celebrate the human-animal bond," said Zuna.
