Value City Cuts Headquarters Staff

10/22/2008

Columbus, Ohio Value City Department Stores has cut its corporate staff, according to Business First of Columbus.

The company confirmed that an undisclosed number of employees were laid off Monday from the company’s Columbus-based headquarters, citing the difficult economy as the reason for the decision.

Retail Ventures Inc. transferred 81% ownership of the then-113-unit chain to an investment group, VCHI Acquisition Co., in January.

The business is now down to 37 stores and has announced no plans to close any more stores at this time.
