Urban Outfitters names coo, European ops

PHILADELPHIA Urban Outfitters has announced the appointment of Andrew McLean to the newly created position of coo for the company's European operating divisions, effective Jan. 5, 2009. McLean will report to ceo Glen Senk and will be responsible for all European shared service operations, including finance, logistics, development and talent acquisition, for retail brands Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters and wholesale brands Free People and Leifsdottir.

"We are delighted that URBN's expansion in the U.K. and the rest of Europe has been met with so much success," said Senk. "We are committed to continued growth abroad. Andrew's significant experience in retail and operations will make him extremely valuable to URBN at this important juncture."

McLean previously served as president of the outlet division for Liz Claiborne, where he worked since 2003. Prior to Liz Claiborne, he served as senior director, controller at Gap brand.
