Update on Amazon’s drive-through grocery store concept

3/3/2017

Amazon’s drive-through grocery store in Seattle is beginning to come more into view.

USA Today reported that Amazon has applied for a liquor license for the store, which the Internet giant has yet to comment on.

According to the report, which cited city planning documents, it appears that the store will have few shelves, if any, of food and other items to choose from. All ordering will be done online.

Customers who have pre-ordered online, will drive by during a specific 15-minute to two-hour window and have their groceries delivered to their cars. Walk-in customers will order from on-site electronic tablets and then wait in the "retail room" for their order to be brought to them, the report said.

Geek Wire reported that construction workers are making progress on the building site, which now includes a “mysterious wrapped object attached to a pillar.”

Photos of the site are included in the Geek Wire report.
