UL expands product safety capacity
UL has more than doubled its product testing capability by relocating to a new 48,000-sq.-ft. facility in Enfield, CT.
The company, whose ubiquitous UL trademark appears on all manner of products, said the relocation will enable it to more efficiently meet the growing demand for the company’s analytical, physical, performance and compliance testing of consumer products for retailers and manufacturers doing business in the U.S.
The new facility, one of 95 laboratory, testing and certification facilities the company operates worldwide, houses advanced instrumentation and equipment for the testing of consumer hard goods such as toys, small appliances, electrical equipment and general merchandise as well as soft good such as apparel, fabrics and textiles.
"Our new Connecticut laboratory can now offer a greater volume of testing, more efficiently and across more product lines, while coordinating activities for U.S.-based customers using global UL consumer products labs for their testing needs," said Roy Lamothe, VP and general manager for consumer products, North America. "We have precision laboratories positioned in key producing countries to service our customers with the highest integrity and through worldwide collaboration."
