Ukrop’s stores to change to Martin’s banner

Richmond, Va. Following its sale to a U.S. division of Dutch grocery conglomerate Royal Ahold NV, the Ukrop’s chain will change its name to Martin’s Food Markets.

According to a report by the Richmond Times Dispatch, the 25-store chain will change its name by spring.

All 25 stores are in Virginia -- 24 in the Richmond area and one in Williamsburg.

Ukrop's and Ahold's Giant-Carlisle division are working under a transition service agreement and will develop long-term plans during the next several months, according to the report.
