Normanton, U.K. – U.K.-based discount retailer Poundworld is embarking on an IT overhaul with global retail IT services provider PCMS to support its long-term growth plans. The 10-month project will see Poundworld implement a range of new IT systems to improve customer experience, efficiency and store management.
During phase one of the project, Poundworld will be rolling out PCMS’ Vision BeanStore POS system, which will enable faster transactions, better stock control and reduced training requirements. In phase two, Poundworld will introduce SAP and Business Objects as central management tools to support more automation, faster processes and reporting across the estate.
Poundworld aims to double its current portfolio of 260 stores in the next five years.
“As our business expands geographically, we also want to expand our technological capability and create a platform to help us grow and achieve greater economies of scale,” said Chris Edwards, co-founder and managing director of Poundworld. “In PCMS, we have found a partner with passion and innate understanding of retail, which is demonstrated through its people and Tier 1 customer base. We’re very excited about evolving our IT offer and seeing the benefits in terms of customer experience and estate management.”
