UFCW agrees on contract

LOS ANGELES The United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 770, which represents workers in Southern California, announced yesterday that it has agreed to a tentative contract with the management of Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons. According to the union, this is a fair contract that includes wage increases and significantly improves health care coverage. The UFCW Local 770 said it would schedule meetings on July 22 for its members to ratify the contract.

"This contract goes a long way in maintaining good jobs with health care, wages that pay the bills, and a loyal productive work force in the grocery industry that is good for workers, communities, and businesses," said UFCW international president Joe Hansen.
