Twin Cities talent readies for transfer

2/2/2009

Target and Best Buy are two of the retail industry’s most successful and well run companies, and in order to stay that way, both firms had to make hard decisions the past few months.

Target last week announced plans to lay off about 600 people at its headquarters, while roughly 500 people at Best Buy’s headquarters are out of work after they took advantage of an early retirement program the company offered in mid-December 2008.

Now, the actions of these two companies have created a unique situation in the Twin Cities. An abundance of people of all skill levels who contributed to the success of Target and Best Buy are looking for work.
