Tuesday Morning loss widens
Dallas Following an announcement earlier this month that its sales for the first quarter ended Sept. 30, were down 4.3% -- from $173.4 million to $165.9 million -- Tuesday Morning Corp. said Tuesday that its net loss for the quarter widened to $4.7 million, compared with $4.3 million for the year-ago quarter.
Comparable-store sales for the quarter decreased by 5.8%, comprised of a 1.7% decrease in traffic and a 4.1% decrease in average ticket.
Tuesday Morning operated 850 stores in 43 states as of Sept. 30. During the first quarter of fiscal 2010, the retailer opened 10 new stores, closed 17 existing stores and relocated nine stores.
