9/30/2009

WAYNE, N.J. Though there have been some grim reports about retailers cutting back on seasonal hiring, some, like Toys"R"Us plan on employing a large number of temporary employees.

Toys"R"Us announced that it plans to hire approximately 35,000 seasonal employees in its stores nationwide. According to the company, this number is equal to the total work force hired during each of the previous two holiday seasons.

"For parents, Toys"R"Us is often the most important stop on their way to fulfilling all of their children's holiday wishes, and they look to our employees to provide expert assistance," said Dan Caspersen, EVP human resources for Toys"R"Us. "Because we are in the toy business 365 days a year, our sales associates know toys and are dedicated to providing gift-givers with recommendations for products that are right for kids of all ages, abilities and interests. We're looking for hard-working, reliable individuals who enjoy working as part of a team and want to provide customers with memorable store experiences."

The retailer said that in addition to hiring seasonal employees, it will allow existing associates to take on additional hours during the holiday shopping period.
