Wayne, N.J. —Toys ‘R Us Inc. has opened a new distribution center in Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry,Franceto support the company's expanding e-commerce business throughout France and in select sections ofEurope. The 550,000-sq.-ft. facility will service retail distribution to the country's 48 store locations and e-commerce operations throughoutFrance.
The center will also expedite online order fulfillment to customers inBelgium, LuxembourgandMonaco. Located south ofParis, the logistics campus opened in late May. The adjacent headquarters for Toys ‘R Us Franceis scheduled to open onJune 22. The fulfillment center and headquarters office will employ approximately 350 full- and part-time employees at the peak of the holiday season.
Chosen for its strategic location nearParis, the campus features more than 20 receiving areas, nearly 60 shipping docks and services up to 80 trucks per day. The building contains an automated conveyor system that increases overall service and storage capacity. As a result of these enhancements, inbound and outbound transport from the facility will be streamlined.
Developed by IDI Gazeley (Brookfield Logistics Properties), the campus also features office space that will serve as the company's headquarters forFrance. In addition, the facility has built in additional storage space for potential future expansion.
