Toys "R" Us and Amazon Trial to Start

Paterson, N.J., Opening statements were read today in the trial pitting Toys “R” Us against Amazon.com alleging that Amazon violated the toy retailer’s exclusivity rights by allowing others to sell certain items on the Amazon.com Web site.

Toys “R” Us filed the suit in May 2004, and Amazon.com countersued. Both seek monetary damages and a judgment that the other is violating the agreement.
