TJX considers sale of Bob's Stores

7/28/2008

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. According to several reports in the Boston press, Framingham, Mass.-based TJX, is in talks to sell its Bob's Stores division.

The company bought Bob's Stores when it was in bankruptcy in 2003, and the unit continues to perform poorly. For the first quarter ended April 26, same-store sales at the struggling unit fell 3%.

Reports indicate that TJX is considering potential buyers, including Versa Capital Management, who will keep the Bob's stores open.
