Tim Horton’s Q2 profit up 3.7%

New York City Canadian eatery Tim Hortons said Thursday that its second-quarter profit climbed 3.7% as new restaurants and its growing U.S. operations helped boost results.

For the three months than ended June 28, the company earned 77.8 million Canadian dollars ($67.5 million), or 43 Canadian cents (37 cents). That's up from the previous year's profit of 75 million Canadian dollars, or 41 Canadian cents per share.

Revenue grew 8.9% to 556.1 million Canadian dollars ($482.6 million) from 510.7 million Canadian dollars.

Tim Hortons opened 25 new locations during the period, including 10 in the United States.
