Tiffany & Co Names New Head of Japan

11/29/2004

New York City, Tiffany & Co. has appointed Michael Christ as president of its Japanese division, which operates roughly 54 stores in that country. Christ joined the luxury retailer in 1995 and most recently served as group VP of U.S. retail sales. He replaces Katsuhiko Nitta, who will return to New York after a transition period and resume his role as a vice president in its international division, the company says.

During the recent third quarter, Tiffany& Co. reported a 3% increase in international same-store sales, and overall sales of $190.9 million, a 10% increase. However, retail sales were down 2% in Japan.
